I wrote five template roundups for ClickUp’s blog through iScribblers, a content agency in India. They cover client dashboards, precedence diagrams, n8n workflows, Twitter threads and program descriptions.

About these articles

ClickUp publishes many “best templates” articles, each built around one search term. They attract readers who want a ready-made way to plan or report something, and each one points them to ClickUp templates they can start using right away.

The brief’s requirements

Every article came with a detailed brief and a long list of house rules. These were the main ones.

Requirement What it meant in practice
Fixed format Every article followed the same structure, with a short intro, a definition under 200 words, buying criteria under 175 words and one section per template
Exact template list Some templates were part of ClickUp partnerships, so I couldn’t add or drop any
“Ideal for” line Every template entry ended with one sentence naming its best use case
15+ internal links Every link on the list had to fit naturally into the text
External data At least 2 data points from sources with a domain authority above 40
Surfer score of 80+ Every draft had to score at least 80 in Surfer before submission
2,800-word limit Each article covered 10 or more templates within the limit
No AI-generated content I wrote everything myself

How I worked

The program description brief named educators, nonprofit leaders and program managers as the audience. So the article opens by stating what each of them needs, starting with “Grant reviewers want a clean overview they can scan.”

Every entry explains what the template actually contains, beyond its name. The program management entry, for example, covers the Issues List View and the Project Financials Table View, which tracks planned against actual spending.

Before submitting, I checked each article against the full list. The program description article has the exact 10 templates from the brief, an “Ideal for” line on each, 16 internal links and a Surfer score of 81. The Twitter thread article scored 80 and cites a Buffer experiment where threads based on blog posts got 63% more impressions and 54% more engagement than single-link tweets.

Where I made a judgment call, I explained it to the editor in the draft. One note explains that “Read More” links should read like a natural call to action, rather than a copied blog title. Another explains why I kept a template, because the checklist asks whether the article covers every point in the brief.
